About Us

About Stephanie Vannatter, MA, LPC:

Born and raised in St. Clair County Stephanie considers it her calling to assist individuals in finding or regaining the tools necessary for them to function independently. She believes that our lives intertwine our behaviors, emotions, and thoughts largely guiding us by our perceptions of ourselves, others, and our world.

Stephanie believes growth is the result of a holistic approach taking into consideration our relationships, social issues, and cultural issues along with our physical and spiritual state. You can achieve the mental and emotional wellness that you desire when you wade into the deep waters of your true inner self.

Stephanie has extensive experience working with substance abuse disorders, depression, anxiety, intensive outpatient, pediatric and adult inpatient, dual diagnosis, grief and loss, crisis, self harm, and trauma. She provides services for children, teens, and adults.

Stephanie is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the State of Michigan, graduating from Spring Arbor University with a Masters of Counseling Degree in 2017. She has received certificates and specialty training in trauma at TLC National Institute of Trauma and Loss.

About Larena Cherry, MA, LPC:

A native of Marine City, Michigan, Larena earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She later completed her Master of Arts in Counseling at Oakland University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Michigan and certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. She has worked as a feeding ministry’s social worker and in an inpatient behavioral health setting. After spending several years in North Carolina, Larena returned to the Marine City area, where she lives with her husband, stepson, a very energetic preschooler and the family cats.


Larena has experience with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and mood disorder, as well as struggles with weight management, self esteem, goal setting, and accountability. She has helped individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts and step-parents that are unsure of their new family role. Larena also has firsthand experience dealing with the challenges of raising a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder and a passion to help veterans of all military branches. She believes that everyone has value and experiences challenges. Her mission is to help people heal their trauma, while learning how to thrive in an ever changing world.
Larena utilizes a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy. She offers one to one therapy, family and couples therapy, and group therapy for struggling parents. Teletherapy is available upon request.

Founded in 2022 by Larena Cherry and Stephanie Vannatter Ease of Mind Counseling is located in beautiful downtown Marine City on Water street right on the St. Clair River. We are located next to the famous Anitas restaurant. Our mission is to take care of our community and bring compassionate mental health services to everyone in St. Clair County.
